TaskEnergy

Winster Mews, High Peak

This project at Winster Mews reflects exactly what TaskEnergy stands for: practical, efficient, resident-focused solutions that deliver measurable impact. Working in partnership with the Norse Group, we replaced an outdated electric heating system with a modern air source heat pump (ASHP), improving comfort, performance, and long-term sustainability in a fully occupied domestic property.

Objectives

The goal was clear: remove inefficient electric storage heaters and
a Fortic hot water cylinder, and replace them with a tailored ASHP solution. The system was designed around a 55°C flow temperature and a calculated heat load of just under 7kW (potentially reduced
to 5kW with fabric improvements).

Client: Norse Group
Sector: Domestic
Duration: 5 days

Challenges

A number of important factors shaped this project:

01

Live residential environment:

The property was fully occupied, meaning works had to be planned to ensure minimal disruption and maintain live services throughout.

02

Outdated infrastructure:

The transition from electric storage heating to a full wet system involved significant internal upgrades.

03

Hot water continuity:

The client required uninterrupted access to hot water during the installation.

Our solution

Our approach combined detailed planning with hands-on delivery:

  • A full survey was undertaken to assess property needs and capture client requirements. Heat loss calculation and review. Development of tailored heating system design, issuance of a project pack with full scope and cost breakdown.

  • We removed the old electric storage heating system and installed a custom efficient modern ASHP solution, improved heating performance and comfort. This provided greater control over indoor temperatures and enhanced comfort and system usability.

  • The property was fully occupied so maintaining live services throughout the install was essential. This was managed through careful sequencing of works and early prioritisation of hot water delivery.

  • 2 experienced heat pump engineers and an electrician delivered the full 5-day install efficiently and respectfully.

The Results

Cleaner, greener homes

100% removal of electric panel heaters and electric immersion heater only cylinder across the site.

Enhanced efficiency

Lower running costs for residents thanks to modern systems.

Reliable and future-proof

Durable, low-maintenance system designed for longevity.

Peace of mind

Residents enjoy quieter, safer, and more comfortable heating.

Energy efficiency

Estimated reduction in CO₂ emissions by 4,374 kg per year.

Innovation & Efficiency

Keeping services live in an occupied property was a key consideration. Through early planning and strategic sequencing, we maintained essential utilities throughout the project. The result is a home that’s not only warmer but smarter, equipped with an efficient system that fits the resident’s lifestyle and future-proofs the property.

TaskEnergy were reliable and professional throughout the heat pump installation, keeping residents updated each day and ensuring a smooth, low-disruption process. The clear handover meant tenants were left confident in using their new system, giving us full trust in TaskEnergy’s quality and delivery.” Antony Ballone, Project Manager at Norse Group on behalf of High Peak Council
