Manchester Rd, Warrington
At TaskEnergy, we believe sustainable, efficient heating shouldn’t be limited to large-scale housing projects. For this private client in Warrington, we delivered a tailored air source heat pump (ASHP) installation that replaced an aging gas boiler, helping them reduce their carbon footprint and future-proof their home with confidence.
Objectives
The client wanted to fully remove their dependency on the gas
grid by replacing their end-of-life boiler with a renewable, low-carbon system that could reliably meet both current and future heating
and hot water demands.
Client: Private Client
Sector: Domestic
Duration: 3 days
Challenges
As with many retrofit projects, the property presented a few spatial and technical constraints:
Recessed boiler location:
The old boiler was tucked into a tight corner, making the placement of the new unvented cylinder a logistical challenge.
Hot water access:
Maintaining uninterrupted hot water during installation was a must, requiring creative sequencing and planning.
Our solution
We approached this project the same way we handle every installation; thoroughly, responsibly and with the end user front and centre:
-
A full MCS design survey was conducted, with detailed heat loss calculations and performance data used to inform installation. The team, consisting of two heat pump engineers and one electrician, was selected based on proximity and availability to meet the strict timeline.
-
The unvented cylinder and immersion heater were prioritised to ensure hot water was available by the end of day one. The team reviewed RAMS before commencing work, ensuring a safe and efficient installation.
-
Over a 3-day install, two experienced heat pump engineers and
a qualified electrician completed the transition without disruption. The immersion heater was wired in on Day 1 to ensure hot water access throughout.
The Results
Big carbon savings
- 3.96 tonnes CO₂ cut each year; the same as taking 2 cars off the road annually.
Energy eliminated
- 21,627 kWh of gas removed: enough to power a UK home for 2 years.
Performance above expectation
- Heat pump SCOP 4.1 delivered, 19% more efficient than design spec.
Cost confidence
- Client moved onto a stable tariff of £0.15/kWh, securing predictable bills.
Innovation & Efficiency
Every installation is different. In this case, careful planning around tight internal space meant the new system remained accessible, maintainable and compliant. The result? A future-ready heating solution that surpassed performance expectations.
“TaskEnergy exceeded expectations from start to finish. They understood exactly what we needed and delivered a tailored air source heat pump solution that exceeded expectations. The team was efficient, respectful, and completed the work within three days. We’re already seeing the benefits with lower energy costs and reduced carbon impact. The full MCS handover pack gave us real confidence in the system. I’d gladly recommend TaskEnergy to others looking to decarbonise their homes.” – Miss Mason, Client
